UTHS Sports Participation and Eligibility Requirements:
The following must be met to be eligible:
- All athletes must have a physical examination to try out for any athletic team. Freshman must have a 9th grade physical to enter high school. The 9th grade physical qualifies as their sports physical. These should be on file with the nurse. It is recommended that you photocopy the physical and present the copy to the coach when signing up for a sport. No athlete may practice or compete without having a physical on file in the athletic office.
- All athletes must have an athletic permit card filled out and signed by parents/guardians. Coaches will distribute the athletic permit card or it can be picked up in the Athletic Director’s Office. Student athletes will also be required to have a medical emergency card on file.
- Prior to each season, the coaches will conduct a team rules meeting. Your son or daughter will be notified by the coach regarding the time and location of the meeting. All athletes and parents/guardians must attend this important meeting. All team rules, coaching philosophy, and the athletic participation policy will be reviewed and discussed. This is a great opportunity for you to meet the coach and have some of your concerns and questions answered.
- All athletes must pay a yearly participation fee of $50.00 to belong to athletic team. This fee includes a mandatory insurance coverage and must be paid prior to your child’s participation in a sport. This does not necessarily need to be paid at registration unless your child will be participating in the fall sports. This fee is paid only once per school year regardless of the number of sports an athlete is in.
- All athletes must be passing two (2) credits per semester to be eligible for participation Eligibility is checked on a weekly basis. You must be passing four (4) classes per week, and at the end of teach semester to be eligible.
